Teenage parenting: Hide it or Reveal it?
Finding out that you’re pregnant can sometimes lead to endless happiness while sometimes lead to distress and tension.
You may wonder why I said tension? Isn’t it the best feeling in the world?
Well, surely would be but what if you figure it out in high school?
Studies reveal that 3 out of 10 girls in US figure out their pregnancy in high school.
Now you may say it may be because of the irresponsible sex but you should also keep in mind that no method is 100% effective at preventing pregnancy. Many a times condoms break, pills fail and sometimes by the time you realize you’re pregnant, it gets too late for abortion!
So that ends you with bring up the child.
Now raising a child when you yourself are a teenager is something very difficult but when I say difficult, I don’t mean impossible.
With certain steps and commitments that you’ve ought to be making, you can help your child lead a healthy and successful life.
Teenage parenting is easier when you take up the following steps-
- Talk to your parents-
It’s not going to be easy but the way to a better direction in life is by talking about your concerns with your parents and family. Its a way to show your maturity in the choices you made so be up for the consequences as well.
They may yell at you, be upset with you but you’ve got to be keeping calm and realize that its their right to be upset with you.
- Talk to people who’ve been in same situations-
The choice of raising the child, giving for adoption or simply getting aborted is completely your decision but its advisable that you talk openly with people who’ve been in the similar situations like teenage parenting so that you know the consequences well.
- Don’t avoid education-
If you plan to raise the child, its advisable that you continue attending school. I know its going to be very hard but remember that cutting yourself off education wont lead to any good future rather would make your life miserable as you’ll continue working on minimum wages all your life and wont be able to live a satisfied life.
So struggle today and bring up a better future for you and your child.
- Ensure medical care-
Raising the child would obviously require you to take medical care of yourself. I know you’d be hesitant enough thinking how to go for regular check-ups but remember that its for you and your child’s health. Being in touch with all the medical aids is the basic necessity any pregnant woman would need. So if you don’t have health card, ask your parents for it and if they don’t support you in the cause, you always have options of non profitable organizations and state agencies.
- Nourish yourself-
One crucial step that is often skipped during the process of pregnancy is that you tend to ignore nourishing your body the right way.
Now this may turn hazardous for your health and as well as your baby’s health so in order to avoid the future regrets, plan to take care from the very starting.
If you’re into drinking or smoking, it is highly recommended that you quit it as it would lead to either a premature baby or some birth defects in the baby.
With all these steps in place, you can aim for a healthy and a successful life of the child.
Its important for you to stand up for yourself rather than avoiding or hiding it from the world.
I hope the article helps you in being open about your pregnancy and boosts your willpower to take the right step for yourself.
