How to boost the benefits of green tea during weight loss?

By now, I don’t think we all need any introduction to what is green tea and what it does to our body?

We are well aware of the fact that it is the first thing we swear by when we think of losing weight.

Apart from that, it helps prevent bad breath, has anti-ageing properties and helps protect against heart diseases.

Now just because its the favorite sip of all the weight conscious people, does that mean you can have it all day?

How do you be sure that you’re availing all the benefits of it? You can’t simply have it anytime of the day you feel like. The drink being rich in anti oxidants can also work in the wrong direction and create harmful effects on the body.

So, today we’ll be discussing the common mistakes we do while drinking green tea.


Some of them are-

  • Early morning-

Before the introduction of green tea, we used to kick start our day by having a glass of warm water or a glass of honey lemon. But now many of us have shifted to a cup of green tea to start our day with.

Since it also contains caffeine hence drinking it empty stomach may adversely affect the stomach balance. So it is better to not start your day by sipping in green tea.


  • Immediately after every meal-

It is a common habit of all the weight conscious brains to drink it immediately after consuming any meal; be it breakfast, lunch or dinner.

Now, what we do not realize is that consuming green tea just after a meal may obstruct the nutrient absorption.
It can also lead to improper digestion.

Hence, it is advisable to have a cup  an hour before or after the meal.


  • Green tea all day-

Just because it helps detox the body, that doesn’t mean we can consume it all day.

It is often observed that people switch to green tea water from plain drinking water.

What we all miss to understand it that, the detox properties work only when you have it sip by sip as its a slowly process. Simply pouring in a bottle of water which has green tea extracts wont solve the purpose.

Instead, it is advisable that if you have a liter of green tea in the complete day, you should also have a liter of regular drinking water.

Also, for a complete day, it is advised to have a maximum of 2-3 cups of it.


  • Late night consumption-

It is often seen that people tend to end the day with a cup of green tea but it is advised to have it at least 2 hours before going to the bed.

Drinking tea before bed time would help you burn fat while you are asleep but consuming it just before sleeping would lead to insomnia as the caffeine content of it would disturb the ability to sleep.


  • Adding milk or sugar-

Not many of us would agree to like the taste of green tea. Hence some of us try adding additional sugar or milk to soothe the taste buds but it is seen that addition of any of these ruins the effect of the tea. So it is best to have green tea without sugar or any adulterant.


  • Do not re-use the green tea bags-

Most of us tend to re use the green tea bags over an over again. We often tend to skip that using the same tea bag after being used once would not contain the benefits of the drink. Also, the wet tea bags are prone to microbial infestation. Hence it is better if you avoid using the tea bags again and again.


If all of the above points are kept in mind, one can accelerate the process of weight loss the best possible way with green tea extracts.
